Verse 7 is found in chapter 12 of Joshua. The second part of the summary lists the kings defeated by Joshua west of the Jordan. Jericho, Ai, Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, Eglon, Gezer, Debir, and other cities are mentioned. The list transforms earlier narrative events into a territorial record.
