These are the inheritances, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, divided for an inheritance by lot in Shiloh before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. So they made an end of dividing the country.

Verse 51 is found in chapter 19 of Joshua. When the allotment is completed, the Israelites give Joshua his own inheritance at Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. Joshua receives his territory after the other tribes have received theirs. This order is significant: the leader does not take the land first, but waits until the distribution is completed. The chapter ends by stating that the allotment was carried out before the Lord, Eleazar, and the tribal leaders.
