Verse 13 is found in chapter 3 of Joshua. God announces to Joshua that He will begin to exalt him before Israel and that the crossing of the Jordan will confirm his leadership. The ark represents the rule and presence of the living God among His people. When the priests enter the river, the waters are to stop flowing. The sign is not intended to glorify Israel’s human ability, but to demonstrate that the God who accompanied Moses continues to act with Joshua and remains committed to bringing His people into the promised land.
