Verse 21 is found in chapter 6 of Joshua. On the seventh day Israel marches around the city seven times, and at the sound of the trumpets and the people’s shout, the walls fall. The narrative attributes Jericho’s fall to God’s action in response to commanded obedience. The destruction of the city is situated within the biblical language of judgment against the cities of Canaan, while the objects devoted to the Lord’s treasury show that victory must not become an opportunity for private enrichment.
