Verse 19 is found in chapter 8 of Joshua. When Joshua stretches out the spear, the soldiers in the ambush enter Ai, and the city is trapped between two forces. The narrative again highlights the coordination between Joshua’s signal and the military action. Victory over Ai contrasts with the earlier defeat: Israel has now dealt with internal sin and can act again under divine authorization. The sequence shows that the book connects obedience, communal discipline, and success in the mission entrusted to Israel.
