Verse 3 is found in chapter 18 of Judges. The tribe of Dan seeks territory because it has not yet secured its inheritance. Five spies arrive at Micah’s house and recognize the Levite’s voice. They ask whether their journey will prosper and receive a favorable answer. The religious consultation is completely instrumentalized: the priest is treated as a means of obtaining security for a territorial enterprise.
