And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.

Verse 13 is found in chapter 6 of Judges. The angel of the Lord finds Gideon threshing wheat in a winepress to hide it from the Midianites. He calls him a "mighty warrior," although Gideon considers his family weak and himself the least important member. The conversation develops the contrast between human perceptions of weakness and the mission God entrusts to him. Gideon asks for a sign before fully accepting the task.
