Verse 7 is found in chapter 8 of Judges. Gideon and his three hundred men continue pursuing Zebah and Zalmunna while exhausted. The people of Succoth and Peniel refuse to provide food because they consider the outcome uncertain. Gideon promises to return after capturing the kings. The scene shows how exhaustion and lack of support test the deliverer’s determination.
