Verse 19 is found in chapter 2 of Nehemiah. When Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem ridicule the project and suggest rebellion, Nehemiah does not abandon the task. He declares that God will prosper his servants and distinguishes the rebuilding community from those who have no recognized share in Jerusalem. The opposition attempts to question both the ability and legitimacy of the work.
