Verse 6 is found in chapter 2 of Nehemiah. Before Artaxerxes, Nehemiah reveals his sadness over Jerusalem and requests authorization to rebuild it. The king’s question turns an inner burden into a concrete opportunity. Nehemiah acts respectfully before imperial authority while maintaining his goal of restoring the city of his ancestors.
