Verse 27 is found in chapter 9 of Nehemiah. The people enjoyed the land and repeatedly rebelled, entering cycles of disobedience, oppression, and crying out. The prayer interprets the history of the judges as evidence of God’s patience: again and again he hears and delivers. The recurring pattern reveals a deep problem of human faithfulness.
