Verse 37 is found in chapter 9 of Nehemiah. Foreign kingdoms and peoples subjected Israel, but the prayer insists that God was just in what occurred. Even under foreign domination, the community recognizes that the consequences corresponded to its conduct. This confession avoids placing all blame on external powers and maintains the people’s responsibility.
