According to the number that ye shall prepare, so shall ye do to every one according to their number.

Verse 12 is found in chapter 15 of Numbers. The laws concerning various offerings anticipate Israel’s life in the promised land and regulate sacrifices that would accompany agricultural and communal life. The legislation assumes that despite the sentence against one generation, God maintains his purpose of bringing the descendants into Canaan. The repeated offerings according to categories also connect worship, food, and recognition of divine provision.
