Verse 19 is found in chapter 31 of Numbers. Israel fights against Midian in fulfillment of the judgment previously announced. After the battle, regulations of purification are established for those who participated and for the objects obtained. The section combines war, judgment, and ritual purity, showing that even after a military victory the people must return to the requirements of holiness governing camp life.
