Verse 30 is found in chapter 31 of Numbers. The war spoils are counted and distributed among the soldiers, the community, and the Levites. A specific contribution to God is also established from the portions received. The distribution prevents the spoils from being treated as exclusively private benefit and incorporates them into Israel’s system of communal and cultic responsibility.
