Even as the LORD commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad:

Verse 10 is found in chapter 36 of Numbers. The heads of the family of Gilead raise a problem concerning the inheritance of Zelophehad’s daughters: if they marry outside their tribe, the property could pass to another tribe. God establishes that the heiresses may marry, but within their own tribe. The final chapter simultaneously protects the women’s inheritance rights and the stability of the tribal distribution of the land, closing Numbers with concern for preserving the inheritance received from God.
