Verse 4 is found in chapter 30 of Proverbs. Chapter 30 introduces the words of Agur and adopts a different tone from the earlier collections. The speaker acknowledges the limits of his understanding and directs attention toward God’s greatness. He asks who has ascended to heaven, who controls the elements, and who has established the ends of the earth. God’s word appears as tested and trustworthy, and the reader is warned against adding anything to it.
