Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Verse 31 is found in chapter 31 of Proverbs. The poem concludes with the recognition of her children and husband and with a fundamental correction of human standards of value: charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord deserves praise. The fear of God connects this conclusion with the beginning of the book. Proverbs therefore ends where it began: true wisdom is ultimately defined by a life reverently oriented toward the Lord.
