Verse 3 is found in chapter 113 of Psalms. Psalm 113 begins and ends with an invitation to praise the Lord and highlights his transcendent greatness. Precisely because God is above the nations and the heavens, it is remarkable that he stoops down to raise the poor from the dust and the needy from humiliation. The fertility granted to the barren woman represents an inversion of apparently irreversible circumstances. Divine transcendence is manifested here through compassion.
