Verse 9 is found in chapter 36 of Psalms. Psalm 36 contrasts the depth of human wickedness with the immensity of divine mercy. The wicked live without fear of God and use their abilities to justify their own conduct, while the Lord’s steadfast love reaches the heavens. The image of taking refuge under divine wings is joined to that of drinking from the river of God’s delights. The contrast ends by asking that pride and violence not prevail.
