Verse 4 is found in chapter 59 of Psalms. Psalm 59 describes a persecution in which enemies watch the psalmist’s house and wait for his downfall. The prayer asks God not only to protect him, but to make his rule visible among the nations. Images of dogs roaming the city emphasize the constant threat. Against them, the psalmist repeatedly declares that God is his strength and refuge, transforming danger into a permanent reason for song.
