Verse 18 is found in chapter 68 of Psalms. Psalm 68 is a complex hymn celebrating God’s victorious procession and remembering his action on behalf of the weak. The processional language evokes divine presence from the wilderness to the sanctuary. Orphans, widows, and captives appear under God’s care, showing that his power is not limited to the battlefield. The entrance of tribes and peoples into praise ultimately presents the Lord as King whose strength fills his sanctuary.
