Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.

Verse 3 is found in chapter 71 of Psalms. Psalm 71 presents the prayer of a person who remembers God’s faithfulness from the early stages of life and asks not to be abandoned in old age. Biographical memory becomes a theological argument: the God who sustained him before can continue to sustain him. The psalmist desires to transmit God’s strength to the coming generation and, after expressing his hope, promises to continually praise the Lord for his righteousness and faithfulness.

Sê tu a minha habitação forte, à qual possa recorrer continuamente.
