Verse 16 is found in chapter 72 of Psalms. Psalm 72 is a prayer for the ideal king, characterized by justice, defense of the poor, and abundance for the people. The well-being of the kingdom is measured especially by how the needy are treated and by the ruler’s ability to combat oppression. The horizon becomes universal when nations and kings recognize his authority. The conclusion attributes marvelous works exclusively to the God of Israel and closes the second book of the Psalter.
