O lord God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee:
A verse can bring hope. Share this message of faith with someone you care about.
Verse 1 is found in chapter 88 of Psalms. Psalm 88 is one of the darkest laments in the Psalter and ends without an explicit resolution. The petitioner is near death, isolated from friends, and surrounded by affliction. Precisely for this reason it is theologically significant: biblical prayer allows an experience to be brought before God even when no explanation or visible restoration has yet appeared. The continued cry to the Lord keeps the relationship open even within darkness.
