Verse 24 is found in chapter 89 of Psalms. Psalm 89 combines praise for divine mercy with a profound crisis concerning the Davidic promise. The first part remembers the covenant with David and the promise of stability for his throne; the second describes a situation in which the king appears rejected and humiliated. The tension between promise and reality constitutes the center of the psalm. The conclusion does not completely resolve the crisis, but ends by affirming the blessing of the Lord.
