Verse 18 is found in chapter 11 of Revelation. The seventh trumpet produces heavenly proclamations: the kingdoms of the world have become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ. The twenty-four elders worship God because he has taken his great power and reigned. The passage looks toward consummation, when the nations are judged and God’s servants receive their reward. The opening of the heavenly temple and the appearance of the ark of the covenant, accompanied by lightning and an earthquake, signal that history unfolds under the faithfulness of God’s covenant.
