Verse 6 is found in chapter 16 of Revelation. The second bowl turns the sea into blood like that of a dead person, and every living creature in it dies. The third bowl turns the rivers and springs into blood. The angel declares this judgment just because those who shed the blood of saints and prophets are given blood to drink. The altar confirms God’s justice. The scene does not present judgment as arbitrary, but as a moral response to the shedding of innocent blood.
