Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

Verse 20 is found in chapter 18 of Revelation. In contrast to the mourning of kings and merchants, heaven receives Babylon’s fall as a reason for celebration because God has judged the cause of his saints. An angel throws a great stone into the sea as a symbol that Babylon will be thrown down and will never exist again. The sounds and activities that will disappear from the city are listed: music, craftsmanship, the mill, and light. The final reason returns to the blood of prophets, saints, and victims of the earth, completing the city’s moral indictment.
