Verse 17 is found in chapter 19 of Revelation. An angel summons the birds to the great supper of God, in deliberate contrast with the marriage supper of the Lamb. The forces gathered against the rider are defeated, and the beast and false prophet are seized and thrown into the lake of fire. The others are killed by the sword coming from the rider’s mouth, and the birds feed on their bodies. The scene presents the decisive defeat of the coalition of powers that opposed Christ.
