And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
A verse can bring hope. Share this message of faith with someone you care about.
Verse 15 is found in chapter 21 of Revelation. The city is measured with a golden reed and turns out to be a cube of extraordinary and equal dimensions. Its measurements and the description of gold, precious stones, and pearls communicate perfection, splendor, and holiness. The gates are pearls and the street is transparent gold. The symbolism recalls the Most Holy Place of the tabernacle and temple, whose cubic form indicated the space of maximum divine presence. The new Jerusalem thus appears as the reality in which God’s presence permeates the entire city.
