Verse 14 is found in chapter 7 of Revelation. One of the elders explains that the multitude in white robes has come out of the great tribulation and has washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb. The paradox of washing in blood to obtain whiteness expresses the cleansing efficacy of Christ’s sacrifice. The promise includes presence before the throne, service in the temple, and pastoral protection from the Lamb. The one who was sacrificed now appears as the shepherd who leads them to springs of the water of life, and God wipes away every tear.
