Verse 6 is found in chapter 19 of 1 Chronicles. The Ammonites hire Aramean forces, and David organizes the military response. Joab confronts the enemy army from a difficult position and succeeds in dividing its forces. The victory over the Aramean allies weakens the military relationships surrounding Ammon. The episode ends by showing the regional consolidation of David’s power.
