Verse 14 is found in chapter 22 of 1 Chronicles. David explains to Solomon that he desires to build a house for God, but his role will be to prepare materials and hand the task to his son. He instructs him to seek the Lord, keep his commandments, and build the temple. Material preparation is inseparably connected with spiritual exhortation: construction of the sanctuary must be accompanied by covenant faithfulness.
