Verse 18 is found in chapter 29 of 1 Chronicles. David blesses God, recognizing that all wealth and power come from him. The prayer contains a central theological idea: the people merely return to God what they have already received from his hand. Generosity therefore loses the character of human merit and becomes a grateful response to divine provision.
