Verse 47 is found in chapter 1 of 1 Kings. Zadok anoints Solomon beside Gihon while the people celebrate and recognize the new king. The public proclamation produces an immediate reaction in Jerusalem and causes Adonijah’s banquet to collapse. The joy of Solomon’s supporters contrasts with the fear of those who had supported Adonijah. The succession is confirmed through a combination of anointing, popular proclamation, and institutional continuity.
