Verse 12 is found in chapter 14 of 1 Samuel. Jonathan and his armor-bearer attack the Philistines and confusion spreads through the enemy camp. The text attributes the victory to the Lord, who creates terror among the Philistines and enables Israel to advance. Saul initially does not know the cause of the disorder, while Jonathan has acted confidently. The scene shows that effective military leadership can arise from someone who recognizes that the battle belongs to the Lord. It also contrasts Jonathan’s initiative with Saul’s hesitation.
