Verse 33 is found in chapter 14 of 1 Samuel. Saul imposes an oath forbidding the army from eating during the battle. The decision does not strengthen the victory, but instead weakens the soldiers and produces extreme hunger. Jonathan, unaware of the oath, eats honey and recognizes that the prohibition has harmed the army. Later, the people consume meat with blood, violating a known regulation. The episode shows how impulsive leadership decisions can generate new transgressions and complicate a victory initially granted by God.
