Verse 47 is found in chapter 14 of 1 Samuel. The summary of Saul’s campaigns presents a militarily active king who fights various enemies of Israel. The narrative acknowledges his achievements without treating them as proof of spiritual faithfulness. His family and commanders show that the kingdom is developing a stable political structure. Nevertheless, the established tension remains: Saul’s military effectiveness will not resolve the problem of his relationship with the word of the Lord.
