Verse 5 is found in chapter 30 of 2 Chronicles. Hezekiah sends letters throughout Judah and Israel inviting the people to celebrate Passover in Jerusalem. The invitation seeks to overcome the historical division between the tribes and return to the God of Israel. Some mock the messengers, but others humble themselves and come. The chapter presents Passover as an instrument of spiritual reunification.
