Verse 13 is found in chapter 33 of 2 Chronicles. God allows the Assyrians to capture Manasseh and take him to Babylon. In his distress, the king deeply humbles himself and prays, and God restores him to Jerusalem. He then attempts to repair the damage by removing foreign gods and restoring the Lord’s altar. The episode is one of Chronicles’ clearest examples of repentance after a trajectory of rebellion.
