Verse 13 is found in chapter 36 of 2 Chronicles. Zedekiah rebels against Nebuchadnezzar and hardens his heart against God. The priests and people also increase their unfaithfulness, defiling the temple. The chronicler presents the crisis as affecting the entire community and not merely the monarch. The accumulation of transgressions prepares the final judgment upon Jerusalem.
