Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
A verse can bring hope. Share this message of faith with someone you care about.
Verse 8 is found in chapter 13 of 2 Kings. Jehoahaz reigns over Israel during a period in which Hazael oppresses the kingdom. The text states that Jehoahaz seeks the Lord and that the Lord hears his plea, although the sinful structure inherited from Jeroboam remains. The tension is significant: God responds mercifully to the king’s distress, but there is no complete reform of the religious system. Israel receives temporary relief and retains part of its territory, although it remains militarily weakened. The passage presents both judgment for unfaithfulness and mercy in response to affliction.
