Verse 29 is found in chapter 13 of 2 Samuel. Absalom waits two years and finally organizes a celebration at which he orders Amnon to be killed. David initially receives false information that all his sons have been killed, but it is later confirmed that only Amnon has died. Absalom’s revenge responds to a real injustice, but it also uses planned violence. The account shows how unresolved family conflict allows violence to reproduce and intensify.
