And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and an hundred bunches of raisins, and an hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.
A verse can bring hope. Share this message of faith with someone you care about.
Verse 1 is found in chapter 16 of 2 Samuel. Ziba meets David carrying provisions and accuses Mephibosheth of remaining in Jerusalem in hopes of recovering Saul’s kingdom. David quickly accepts the accusation and gives Ziba Mephibosheth’s property. The scene introduces a sign of vulnerability in the king’s judgment: under pressure, David makes a decision based on an accusation that has not yet been verified. Later, Mephibosheth’s account will differ, forcing this hasty judgment to be reconsidered.
