The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.

Verse 47 is found in chapter 2 of Daniel. Nebuchadnezzar responds by honoring Daniel and recognizing the greatness of the God who reveals mysteries. However, the promotion of Daniel and his companions also shows that faithfulness to God does not necessarily require abandoning all responsibility within a pagan society. The narrative ends by showing the exiles exercising administrative influence without abandoning the confession that God is the true source of their wisdom.
