Verse 20 is found in chapter 9 of Daniel. While Daniel is still praying, Gabriel arrives and declares that the response is connected with his prayer and with understanding the vision. The text unites prayer and revelation without turning prayer into a mechanism that forces God to act. Gabriel comes by divine initiative and announces that Daniel is greatly loved. The revelation responds to the prophet’s spiritual seeking.
