Verse 18 is found in chapter 25 of Deuteronomy. Measures against commercial deception are established, and Israel is commanded to erase the memory of Amalek because of its attack when the people were vulnerable. Honesty in transactions and memory of historical aggression appear together as matters of justice. Israel must remember both how it should behave toward its neighbors and the violence it suffered on the journey from Egypt.
