Verse 9 is found in chapter 29 of Deuteronomy. In Moab, Moses recalls that Israel has witnessed the great works performed since Egypt, but acknowledges that a full understanding of the spiritual meaning of those events depends on God. The people are called to keep the words of the covenant so that they may prosper in their mission. Historical memory once again functions as the foundation of faithfulness.
