Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.

The verse 1 is found in chapter 48 of Isaiah. Israel knows Yahweh’s name but has been stubborn. God announces new things to demonstrate that he controls history and does not share his glory with idols. Deliverance from Babylon again appears as an opportunity to listen and obey, while the chapter ends by stating that the wicked have no true peace.
